Rodney's Rabbit

Rodney's Rabbit- 3rd Year Sheridan College Action Analysis Project from Lisa Lanese on Vimeo.

This is my final project before the end of semester one! I worked over 100 hours on this project and I was extremely excited to see the result! This is the first finished animated piece I've made, and I can't wait to make more. I painted the background on Photoshop CS5.5 and animated the character traditionally and cleaned it up on Flipbook and Photoshop. I put the video together on After Effects:)
Creating this was so much fun, while doing this I realized why I'm studying animation, because bringing drawings to life is probably the best career a person can have. :D

Drawn from Life

Hi again! It's been a long time since my last post mainly because I've been extremely busy finishing up some end of semester projects. I've been doing a lot of lifedrawing over the semester so I thought I would post all my favourite drawings from the last few months:) They are all done in a variety of media (I like exploring new things) such as pastel, conte, pen and ink, copic marker and ink wash. I've also finished a ten second animated scene which I will be posting  very soon! Stay tuned and enjoy!

Meat Pie

Here's a tidbit of fanart, I needed a break from all the school related stuff. The other day I was inspired by some rough sketches that my friend Seema did of Mrs. Lovett from Sweeny Todd. I drew this as a quick sketch and then decided to try out some brush techniques on it in photoshop. Mrs. Lovett has always been one of my favourite film characters and I think its interesting to see what she would look like if she was translated into a cartoon character.
Lately I've been trying to adapt to different styles of drawing and painting to explore variety, but this is done in my own comfortable style. I figured that I needed to go back to my traditional way of drawing for a bit to rediscover my passion for doing art :)

Chickens, Cows, Sheep and Legs?

                                                                   Hey again!
I recently went to the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto! For everyone that doesn't know what that is, it's a giant farming festival that displays hundreds of smelly prize winning animals, not to mention a HUGE supply of free food samples like freshly made cheddar cheese, mmmm. Anyway, I usually go to the fair every year to draw the animals and this year I decided to experiment with watercolour pencils! I've never used them before, but I found that they were an incredibly fun medium, and they look awesome, especially when rendering feathers. I also did a pencil sketch of some guys in jackets shaving a cow. It was strange, I've never seen anyone shave a cow before. They use these interesting looking razors that look like mini swiffers. I coloured the sketch quickly in photoshop after I got home:)
Overall it was a fun day! I didn't get any drawing of llamas because all the kids wanted to see the llamas and kept stepping all over my backpack, not to mention the giant hoards of people squishing me up to the fence. I was so close to the goats and llamas a one point, I swear they would have started eating my clothes haha.

Watercolour Animals!

Shaving a cow
Along with going to the fair, I've been doing a lot of life drawing. I've been experimenting with pastels, marker, watercolour and different kinds of paper. I will be posting all of these drawings very soon! Recently though, I've been doing studies of the human leg because I noticed that I tend to spend a lot of time with the torso when I am life drawing. Sadly, I seem to neglect the legs and feet. To give myself a better understanding of the legs I spent an entire session just drawing legs and then I turned them into ecorche drawings to learn about the muscle structure underneath. When I went into lifedrawing class this morning I noticed that I was drawing the legs better! Hooray! Now I just need to work on getting the whole pose in....
Critiques are welcome:) ENJOY! :)

Fun with Steve's Barber Shop!

I decided to use those barbershop sketches and make a concept painting of the final look of our film. I definately had fun messing with film effects on After Effects and the glow effect made it look so cool! I feel like I should have put some lava lamps in there, it feels like a rave party or something. Hehe

City Street Concept work for my group film:)

Here is a concept painting for my third year group film. This is the original location design concept. Our story has changed a bit so we will be creating a new location design soon. We are going for a more graphic and lineless style for our film :)

Heroes and Villains

Ok, once I got this project, I knew I was going to draw something like this, I couldn't help it
Barbers are scary, just plain scary
I really loved this pose. Her costume reminds me of a Halloween costume, I wonder what her power would be. I'm thinking electric fingers

Skinny Malinky Longlegs

Here are is a bunch of stuff that I have been working on for my Action Analysis animation project. Blog Remodel!

With the start of a new school year and a million projects on the go, I decided it was time for a new header and a new look for my blog! I've been meaning to change it up for some time now but I could never come up with a decent idea for a nameplate until today, when I realized I wanted to be Wonder Woman for Halloween, and I was inspired to draw this ^

MORE ART Coming Soon!

This summer has been crazy as I have been working two summer jobs while tackling a giant move. Needless to say I haven't had much time to produce alot of art except for the odd lifedrawing class every week. Now that school is back up and running again I've started drawing like a madwoman! I promise there will be some awesome new stuff up within the next couple of weeks:)

Stay Tuned!

Life Drawing

Sorry! I haven't posted anything in a while, but I have been incredibly busy for the past few weeks and I haven't had much time to update. Here are a few of my most recent life drawings. I'm continuing with life drawing over the summer so I can get better. I actually enjoy drawing clothed models better because I think the shadows are more interesting. I will be posting more of these as I practice :)

1 minute, 5 minute and 10 minute poses
